Speedway Development Update
Posted on Dec 5th, 2012

The concerns voiced at the meeting mainly focused on traffic congestion as well as aesthetics, noise, and crime.  Several residents from neighborhoods off Reamers Rd stated that with additional congestion at this intersection, they will choose to cut through Forest Springs via Rock Bay.  Others stated that the project will simply add to the heavy traffic experienced during rush hours with people trying to turn in and out of the gas station.  Residents also voiced concern that their view from their property will now be the back of a gas station with the sights, sounds, and smells that come with it.

So what is the next step?  Speedway now has 90 days from December 3rd to file with the Zoning Board.  If Speedway decides to proceed with the project, the Zoning Board must take in to consideration the comments at the Dec 3rd meeting (the audio was recorded and notes were also taken) as well as those sent to the Zoning Board directly going forward.

The Board strongly recommends that each resident of Forest Springs, who has an opinion on this project, take a few minutes to express it to the Zoning Board as well as our District 17 Councilman Glen Stuckel.   I have provided contact information below.  The Zoning Board is required to keep a file on all communication received.  This file is then given to the planning commission at the time of the hearing.
